OVERVIEW

The bylaws of Follow the Child Montessori School, Inc. and the North Carolina statute governing nonprofit corporations require that we have a board of trustees. The Board is vested with the power to authorize all actions taken on behalf of the school. It oversees the management of the business affairs of the school and makes strategic decisions as needed. The Board is not responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school, but rather works closely with the Head of School.

BOARD MAKEUP

The bylaws provide for the election of 15 board members including the Head of School and two teacher representatives. All elected board members have terms of three years with the exception of teachers, who have two-year terms.

MEETINGS

The Board holds regularly scheduled meetings during the school year. A Board Retreat is also held annually.

The Board assigns members to the following committees:

  • Finance
